Class Action Suit Says Sketchers Health Ads Bogus and Deceptive

A federal class action says that Sketchers is making flase claims about the health benefits of its “Shape-Up” shoes and that it has actually injured some consumers. The lawsuit says that Sketchers claims through deceptive ads that people who wear gym shoes can “get into shape without setting a foot in the gym” and that these “purported benefits had been shown in four clinical studies.” It also says that the ads claim that wearing the shows result in noticeable physiological benefits to consumers, including weight loss, firmer muscles, reduced cellulite, imprived circulation, and improved posture. These claims have helped the company earn millions in profit the suit says.
