Dept of Justice investigating possible bribes in China by Hollywood companies

Several Hollywood Movie studios making films in China have received inquiries from the United States securities and Exchange Commission and the Justice Department concerning possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, according to the New York Times. According to the paper, virtually every Hollywood company with significant dealings in China had been notified in prior weeks of the inquiries into possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, forbidding American companies from making illegal payments to government officials or their agents to obtain business abroad. Some of the films made partly in China include Kung Fu Panda and Iron Man 3. The growing box office reached $3 billion in China last year. No lawsuits have been filed against any companies alleging that the bribes occurred. Jeffrey Newman represents whistleblowers
