Fed Judge Orders Twitter to Give Up Data on Wikileaks Users

Rejecting arguments of free speech violations, Judge Theresa Buchanan has ordered that Twitter must surrender data on users who were in contact with the whistleblower website Wikileaks. One of the individuals is Icelandic MP Birgita Jonsdottir. Wikileaks has said that two of the Twitter users had helped to make public a video that showed a US helicopter strike in 2007 in Baghdad killing several people when the Apache pilots mistook a Reuters cameraman for an insurgent carrying a rocket launcher. The US government had obtained an order last year seeking information from Twitter accounts regarding the Wikileaks release of confidential diplomatic cables.
