More Details On the Johnson & Johnson Hip Replacement Recall

Last week, Johnson & Johnson announced the recall of its ASR XL Acetabular & ASR Hip Resurfacing Systems. Now, it has been learned that in some cases, the products have chipped or broken, leading to pain and also leading to broken bones around the hip socket. The J & J subsidiary DePuy Orthopaedics says that over 93,000 devices have been inplanted that are now recalled. Healthcare professionals have warned that metal on metal hip implants often shed metal particles into the body causing damage to soft tissue and cause inflammatory reactions leading to bone loss.
