Physician Payment Law To Reveal Payments to Doctors Effective Jan 1

The Federal Physician Payment Sunshine Act, part of the national healthcare reform passed recently will, as of January 1, 2012, require the manufacturers of drugs, devices, biological or medical supplies, covered by Medicare, Medicaid or other federal healthcare program, to report to the Dept. of Health and Human Services all payments or treansfers of value made to doctors or treaching hospitals. This includes consulting fees, honoraria, gifts, eneteratinment; direct payment for serving as faculty or speaker for medical education program; grants as well as marketing products.
