RUPERT MURDOCH’S EMPIRE MUST BE DISMANTLED: ROME FALLS

British Labour Leader Ed Millbrand has demanded the breakup of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire over the phone hacking scandal arguing that he has too much power over British public life. Others are saying the same argument carries for the rest of his empire in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world. Whether pressure to break up Murdoch’s worlwide empire which incudes Fox TV, the Wall Street Journal and scores of radio and Tv stations, may depend on whether the Justice Dept and FBI investigation of Murdoch’s actions were in violation of U.S. laws. Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the DOJ was starting an investigation Friday to see whether reporters had hacked families of victims of 9/11. The source of this allegation has not been released. The SEC is also expected to begin its investigation to see whether Murdoch’s group violated the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in Britian when police were bribed. This week Murdoch and his son will testify under oath before Parliament in Britian and new revelations are expected. Today the Chief of Police in London quit over his ties to individuals in the hacking scandal. Scotland Yard has also been implicated and the growing anger over the events has so angered the leaders in England that Murdoch and his operations are being scrutinized high and low. I project that we have seen just the tip of the iceberg.
