Solar panel company Farmers Branch pays $8.5 million for selling Chinese products

Texas solar company Farmers Branch/ 1SolTech must pay $8.5 million because it imported unsafe solar panels from China and falsely labeled them as U.S. made.

The China made panels including many installed into American military bases and airports are fire hazards as they do not conform with U.S. safety standards. Selling foreign products to the Government is prohibited under the Buy American Act and as such the Government alleged that the company committed fraud in selling the products under government contracts.
