STUDENT AID LENDERS SETTLE WHISTLEBLOWER CLAIMS FOR $57 MILL

Four student aid companies have paid the government $57 million to end allegations they inflated their entitlement to certain interest rate subsidies from the U.S. Department of Education. The whistleblower suit filed by Dr. Jonathan Oberg, former employee of the Dept of Education will recover about $20 million. Nelnet Inc and Nelnet Educational Loan Funding have paid $47 million.
