WHISTLEBLOWER OF DEFENSE CONTRACTOR CALNET CLEANS UP IN SETTLEMENT WITH GOV. COLLECTS $3.0 MILL

Kimthy Chao, the former Calnet employee who blew the whistle on defense contractor Calnet will receive over $3 million of the $18.1 million settlement witht he government. The lawsuit, joined by Uncle Sam under The False Claims Act, allowing the whistleblower to obtain a share of the returns, alleged that Calnet overstated its provisional indirect or overhead rates on three contracts. Calnet provided translation and linguist services at Guantanamo Bay and other sites according to the Justice Department.
