Massachusetts to Share in $16.5 million False Claims Whistleblower Case For Faulty Telephones

Massachusetts will be the recipient of some of the $16.5 to be paid by two New Jersey telephone companies Avaya Inc. and CIT Group Inc for supplying desktop phone systems to federal and state agencies which did not work because of missing parts. Avaya will pay $13.4 million and CIT Group $3.1 million. The whistleblowers Mauro Vosilla and Steven Rossow, former company employees will receive $3.3 million of the settlement sum. The case is United States ex rel. Vosilla et al.v. Avaya Inc. et al., No. 04-CV-8763, settlement announced (C.D. Cal. Mar. 2, 2011).
