Medicare paid 3900 docs over one million. One got $28 million

New data released by Medicare revealed that 3,900 individual healthcare providers received over one million dollars in 2013 . Two of the highest paid doctors are being investigated by the Department of Justice including Cardiologist Asad Qamar who received $15.9 million. Solomon Melgen, an eye doctors received $14.4 million. He was charged along with United States Senator Robert Menendez in a bribery case. The Government says he improperly diagnosed patients eye disease and rendered unnecessary treatment.

Anne Geist MD, a Hematologist and co-director of the Indiana Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center was the top paid doctor according to Medicare, receiving $28 million.
