Undercover grandma Medicare Fraud investigations earns award

An ABC network investigation run by Chief Correspondent Brian Ross enlisted an 82-year-old woman to go undercover to reveal Medicare fraud and was named as one of the five winners of the coveted Gracie award. For the investigation, ABC used hidden cameras and Doris Ace, a spunky 82-year old to expose a Medicare fraud operation involving a Texas doctor diagnosing her with a range of ailments she did not have, allowing potentially tens of thousands of dollars in payments by Medicare for home health care supplies and equipment she did not need. The Gracie award is presented by the Alliance for Women in media to honor programming created for women by women and about women as well as individuals. Jeffrey Newman represents whistleblowers.
