Whistleblower Surfaces in Hedge Fund Insider Trading Trial of Galleon’s Rajartnam

A whistleblower now appears to be in the center of the government’s major Galleon Group insider trading case against New York billionaire Raj Rajaratnam. The whistleblower, a former employee of the Galleon Group is expected to testify in Rajaratnam’s upcoming trial starting march 8. The witness worked in the money management side. Rajaratnam is accused of obtaining confidential information on stocks including Intel and Advanced Micro Devices for profits of upto $45 million. The whistleblower filed a complaint with the SEC and he may be entitled to a percentage of moneys recovered by the government through this facet of its investigation.
